What does the word socratic mean? Where does it come from? Why does it matter? It is important that we ask ourselves questions at every opportunity. In most opportunities we can find great lessons to learn. In this life, we are part of a much larger system in which all things are connected.
Imagine with me if you will, a large room, where you see a marble in the middle of the room with strings sticking out of it. You notice that there are other marbles on the ends of these strings and more strings coming out of those marbles and then more and more marbles and strings all attached to each other. hundreds of thousands of strings and marbles. But wait, this isn’t a room. You are in the universe. Each marble is a subject and each string is an attachment a way in which all things become connected.
It is your opportunity to find the way in which all things are connected. This is the way in which all great philosophers, past, present and future learn. They connect things. They connect knowledge. They build their knowledge. Organize it, Write it down, learn more, rework what they have written and then apply and teach.
We learn from them that there is a much larger structure to things than we have the capability of sometimes understanding. That is why this is a never ending process. When we learn, write, rework, apply and teach, we can always improve, always get better and always learn more.
It is important to recognize in this process that there are sections or parts to things. There are ways that we can break things down to better understand the whole. This is how we learn what is in our bodies in anatomy, how we learn how to fix a car in mechanics or learn to ride a bike with training wheels. We break down processes and learn things bit by bit. Slowly, patiently we learn things.
In this life we can see that we have a structure and that there are pieces to us; Mental (our mind), Emotional (the way we feel), Physical (how we treat our bodies), Spiritual (our individual beliefs) and Social (how we interact with other people). When we learn that we can be divided in these ways we can start to break down ourselves and see where we can learn and improve.
It is the purpose of socraticlife.com to help everyone to perceive things a little differently, to perhaps start asking questions that may have not been asked, to help improve ourselves by learning constantly and consistently.

This is really interesting. People think, but (in my opinion) not about the right things. This seems to be a good opportunity to see things in a new way and to expand ones mind in the pursuit of pure knowledge. It also seems to motivate one to keep learning and always be learning. Very cool!
